ASHTON KUTCHER PUNK'D!!

ASHTON KUTCHER HACKED

by John Hargrave

Part 4: The Media Onslaught Continues

No one knew what to believe. Fortunately, in the world of celebrity reporting, printing it first is more important than printing it correctly.

I quickly drew up an e-mail claiming that not only was AshtonHacked.com a hoax designed for Ashton's MTV show, "Punk'd," but so was the wedding. Because the first hoax was believable, I thought that would lend credibility to the wedding also being a hoax.

It worked. The stunt was quickly picked up by international wire service UPI, where it spread like the swine flu to news outlets worldwide. Before long, Ashton and Demi's "fake wedding," along with the original AshtonHacked.com site, was the lead story on Access Hollywood, E! News, and MSNBC.

All these celebrity magazines did me the favor of interviewing a bunch of other celebrities about whether Ashton and Demi were really married. Diddy, Rene Russo, and Robert Downey, Jr. all gave their expert celebrity opinions on the prank, while I watched at home on TV, laughing my ass off.

NEXT: Ashton surrenders!
